Love it Todd. ROM is one of those forgotten characters. I just checked out the Wiki entry and learned that it was originally named "COBOL"- Ha!

Since you're dredging up little known comics... how about something from the New Universe? Justice perhaps? Nightmask?

Great article, Todd.

The 1st Rom annual was drawn by Broderick. Sal Buscema drew annual #2 and Rom annual 3 was drawn by W.M Johnson with a sort-of Pat Broderick look. Ditko drew the 4th annual. Did you know Steve Ditko drew a lot of Rom issues?

Rom issue 1 page 1 was used as an ad and is probably the best opening of any comic ever.

That's funny, I totally forgot about this character since she was never in the early Spidey comics. So you went from watching the cartoons to reading the comics? Weird. Nice drawing! Love the hands!

I always loved those Hostess ads as a kid in the books. Marvel comics would make up fake super villains just for some of their ads. I always wondered to myself, why the villain would just drop everything for the pies when they could use the money from the things they had stolen to buy some later when they had gotten away. I think we have been going about this Bin Laden search all wrong just drop hundreds of fruit pies in the Afghanistan mountains and when Osama comes to get then BOOM! .
